  • Aside from convenience, accessibility, the opportunity to access high quality mentors and content from anywhere on earth and of course the value of becoming digitally competent in a globalised world- Are there any benefits to online learning? Yes! Education lays the foundation for a functional and fair society. It ensures the transference of ideas, beliefs and understanding are passed from one generation to the next, becoming the bedrock of our cultures and values.

Through online learning we can now bring together collaborators, creators and dreamers from across the world. A child in the UK can work effectively to develop a thought, product, or piece of art with children in Kenya, Canada, and Italy. So why does this matter? We know through psychology the discovery of mirror neurons and gains in the understanding of neuroscience, that collaborating, imagining and problem solving with others heightens our thinking, deepens our sense of self and expands the way we see the world. When young people from varying backgrounds come together in meaningful ways they begin a process of defining themselves, their beliefs and their pre conceived ideas.

How would our society look if ideas and understandings were freely exchanged across cultures and borders? And how might a child or teen, who is given space to imagine alongside friends from across the world, find new ways of communicating and collaborating?

These are exciting times with endless possibilities and the young person who is equipped to work, create and imagine effectively with friends across the planet, is ready to thrive in a turbulent and changing world.

  • Imaginarium’s approach to learning is based on 7 core values…

Playful Imagination There is no greater creative tool than your own imagination. We recognise the limitless value of cultivating an ever growing imagination and firmly believe that this is best achieved through playfulness and connection. Our sessions offer a safe, cathartic and fun environment for students to explore new ideas, make mistakes and grow.

Autonomy Being an artist is being open to life long thinking and learning. When students have agency over their work they develop their passion and natural curiosity alongside their ability to self regulate, self direct and problem solve. By being autonomous, students grow in self awareness and become alert to what motivates them, what sparks imagination and what it takes to bring an idea through to completion.

Mentor Relationships Mentors play an important role in creating a welcoming, attentive and fun environment. Our mentors work hard to know and understand each student and take an active role in helping each child work towards their personal and group goals.

Collaboration Collaboration stretches a persons thinking and helps develop interpersonal skills and friendships. Collaboration is also a beautiful birthing place for future ideas and projects. To facilitate positive collaborations we carefully assign students to groups where we believe there will be a meeting of minds and iron sharpening iron friendships formed. Students learn to work together through projects and by giving and receiving feedback.

Peer-led learning Having the opportunity to pass on wisdom and skills enriches a persons understanding and experience of their subject. It is also creates a positive culture of working and thriving together for a common goal. We encourage peer led learning within their classes by allowing those with more experience to share their skills and by opening opportunities for volunteering throughout the Academy.

Community Brains are sociable, hearts seek connection and humans love community. Being in a healthy community that is drawn together through shared passions, values and goals is essential for personal well being and a vital ingredient for instilling a sense of purpose and belonging. In Imaginarium we believe in facilitating safe communities where diversity flourishes and all children feel welcome and accepted just as they are.

Connection A life in arts and entertainment can feel allusive to many and forming connections and friendships within the industry can open both minds and doors. Imaginarium students are given opportunities to connect with influential creatives in the arena of arts and entertainment. These connections are made through our Summer Showcase, which allow students to pitch, present and discuss their work with producers, writers, casting directors and others from the world of Arts and entertainment. Many of our Screen Acting students are also offered talent representation for work in Film and TV.

  • All of our mentors have a passion for their subject which is underpinned with ongoing industry experience, knowledge, and insight. Our mentors are able to give useful tools and concrete guidance whilst being intuitive in understanding the goals and aspirations of individuals in the group.

Since community plays a significant role in Imaginarium, mentors are also chosen for their friendly and empathetic nature and ability to bring people together. All mentors are trained in Imaginarium’s core learning values and subscribe to these principals. Imaginarium mentors are motivating, encouraging, inspiring and work alongside their groups with commitment and continuity.

  • Imaginarium Academy unites students from around the world, enriching our community with unique perspectives and talents. Operating from September to July, we strategically include four breaks aligned with global cultural and academic calendars: these include the final week of December, the first week of January, Easter week, and October half term.

Our fee structure is based on a four-week month, this enables the academy to observe these designated breaks without affecting the monthly cost for our students.

During the month of August, the academy takes a well-deserved rest, allowing students and mentors to recharge. Membership fees for August are automatically frozen.

  • If you are unable to attend a class then you are welcome to make up the session with a different group or even a different subject. To make the most of our community and projects we recommend students maintain their classes as much as possible.

  • Yes! You are able to make changes to your schedule on a month by month bases. Please let us know of any changes before the 1st of the month.

  • We like to maintain strong, collaborative relationships with those in our talent agency and therefore keep small books. However, if you are keen to explore opportunities as a working actor then we are happy for you to contact us with a portfolio or to arrange a time to speak. talent@imaginarium.tv
